Piers Simon Appeal's Nepal Earthquake Appeal

Nepal Earthquake Appeal · 27 April 2015
The 7.8 magnitude earthquake that struck Nepal on Saturday 25th April has affected the area of Helambu where since 2012, School in a Bag have distributed over 3,600 SchoolBags.
Our partners on the ground, the Helambu Education Livelihood Project (HELP) based in Kathmandu and co-funded by Mondo Challenge UK are located right in the heart of the disaster area and are ideally located to carry out a thorough assessment of what the needs are. HELP are extremely well connected and respected in the areas surrounding Kathmandu and amongst their team run by Jimmy Lama we really do have the very best eyes and ears on the ground to ascertain how best to utlise money raised from this appeal.
From our discussions with Mondo Challenge UK, the immedate needs are the essential supplies - Food, Water and Shelter. We hope we can assist HELP in this emergency response phase by providing them with funds to purchase these items. Following this, our aim will be to support the Nepalese people in the recovery phase enabling them to rebuild their lives, homes, communities and schools over the coming months and years.
Please note that donations made to this appeal will be used for disaster response and not funding SchoolBags - this will ceratinly come at a later stage as we know many of the schools and children that are supported through the School in a Bag initiative have been affected.
Please help us HELP the people of Nepal. Thank you.
