Over Easter this year I am leading a trip to Mexico for a team of 17 young people and adults from the church I attend. The trip is for 10 days and during that time we will build a basic wooden framed home using only hand tools. This will provide a secure and watertight home for a family currently living in extreme poverty in shelters similar to that shown on the photograph. The family have been picked as they are considered in most need of the home due to illness or a very young family. We will meet with and work alongside the family during the trip and have the pleasure of handing them the keys to their home before returning to the uk.

Whilst in Mexico as well as the challenge of physically building the home we will be rough camping and be without out the luxuries we take for granted in the UK such as running water, showers and flushing toilets. It is not going to be a holiday but I expect it to be an incredibly rewarding experience and an amazing opportunity to transform a families life.

To cover flight costs, food and the building materials needed to complete the project each participant has to contribute funds of £1200 per person. (My husband and teenage daughter are also making the trip.) All money donated goes directly to the project and the associated costs. Please dig deep to be a part of this project and following the trip I will be able to show photos of the family whose lives have been transformed.

We are not relying soley on people giving and each particpant is contributing towards the cost themselves. The team also have regular fundraising activities taking place including bag packing, coffee mornings, concerts, wristband sales, Mexican evenings and much more.
