Story

On the 16th March 2022, some members of the SLT society at Newcastle will be taking on a 24-hour modified food challenge. We are doing this to raise awareness of dysphagia. Dysphagia is having eating, swallowing and drinking difficulties which can potential life threatening consequences. It can also affect individuals quality of life due to embarrassment, lack of enjoyment of food and social difficulties.

We are raising money for HANCUK as dysphagia affect 50-60 percent of head and neck cancers survivors. HANCUK is a patient led charity that aims to raise awareness of head and neck cancer, its symptoms, diagnosis and treatment. They also help patients make informed decisions about their care and treatments and act as advocates for patients, their careers and families.
