Since 1886, Mayhew has been at the heart of the communities in which we work providing a lifeline to thousands of dogs and cats in need. Our focus has always been on keeping pets and owners together through community-based welfare, veterinary, rescue and rehoming services in the UK and overseas.

Story

Back in October of last year I was lucky enough to spend 5 days volunteering in Tbilisi, Georgia and got to see first hand the impact that Mayhew International has had on the dogs and cats of Tbilisi. Through our TNR programme we neuter and vaccinate the street dogs of Tbilisi and give them a full clean bill of health before releasing them back onto the street. This not only helps with the over population of free roaming dogs but also prevents the spread of fatal diseases like rabies.

Mayhew International is 100% public funded and in 2019 we need to raise £20,000 to neuter and vaccinate up to 600 dogs - that is only £35 per dog!!

Your donation, no matter how big or small with make a huge difference to the lives of the free roaming dogs but all the people and children who interact with them on a daily basis.

Mayhew International works with governments, local communities and charitable groups to help improve animal welfare overseas. They work in Georgia, Afghanistan, India and Russia and the goals are:

  • To improve animal welfare, to encourage people to treat animals with care and respect
  • To control, contain and reduce free-roaming dog and cat populations in a humane way
  • To work towards eradicating rabies caught from dogs and other infectious diseases spread between animals and people
  • To improve veterinary standards through access to training
