Niamh's Everest Base Camp Trek

Everest Base Camp Trek · 23 September 2017
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I decided to do the Everest Base Camp Trek last November for my own personal challenge but realised that it would be a wasted opportunity not to do it in the name of charity. And what better charity than one which provides research into one of the most widespread illnesses: cancer.
We have all been affected or know someone who has been affected by cancer in some way. In my own life my uncle, close family friends and relatives have battled with cancer, some having lost to it. But in their names and in the interest of preventing others from going through similar experiences we can help to beat this! Every penny helps us to get one step closer, so please help me achieve my goal and sponsor my trek in aid of Cancer Research UK.
I will be leaving on 6th September, staying in Kathmandu for 2 days, and the trek will take around 14 days, returning to the UK on 24th. Base Camp is at an altitude of 5,364m (17,598 ft) and 50% less oxygen at the top. I've been working hard over the past year and especially the last few months to get my fitness up and it seems to be going well at the moment. By September I'm sure I will be prepared and ready to take on the challenge!
I am completely funding this trip with my own money so everything I raise will go straight to Cancer Research UK.
Thank you.
