In March of this year, Bob Last, a good friend and neighbour, died after a long struggle against prostate cancer. He faced his illness with immense courage and advanced medical science by testing new drugs, which, having worked for a couple of years, finally demonstrated that yet more research is required.

I've never sported facial hair and I'm already getting quite a lot of stick from Jill before November has even started but I'm determined to maintain a British stiff upper lip (well, a bristly one anyway) for this excellent cause and in memory of my good friend. Please dig deep and make my embarrassment worthwhile!
