**** ALL FINISHED SUCCESSFULLY, 11HRS AND 17 MINS, THANKS SO MUCH!!***
Hello All....
On 18th September I will be attempting to complete the Challenge Henley Iron distance triathlon, comprising a 3.8k swim (2.4miles), 180k cycle (112miles) and a 42k run (26.4miles).
In doing so I have decided to kindly request from you all any donations you are willing and can afford to give to help me raise money for Depression Alliance ('DA'). I don't have a fundraising target but would hugley appreciate any level of donation to fund both the work that DA do and to help spur me personally to completing this ridiculous challenge.
Training began in January and since May I have completed the Edinburgh marathon, 4 Olympic distance triathlons and 1 half iron distance triathlon. In addition I have spent over 190hrs on various bikes covering over 2,800 real ks and numerous more on a static bike, over 77hrs running covering over 1000ks and nowhere near enough swimming! I have lost half a stone I didn’t know I had, haven’t had a lie in for months and have a particularly sore arse. Some of the lowlights are to the left.
Having personally experienced the devastating effects of depression, this is a cause i am passionate about. Demystifying this illness is crucial. It is often dismissed too lightly and the throw away comment 'i am so depressed' has become commonplace, it can run so far deeper than that. Not being physical makes it harder to both spot and to treat. Learning about it is the key and every case is different. DA works hard to make this happen.
If you think that covering 140 miles in a day under your own steam is a sufficiently tough challenge to warrant sending a few quid my way, please do. When i setup this page it asked if the event finished the same day it started.....i tentatively clicked yes.
Many thanks! N
