At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding groundbreaking research.

Story

Two years ago my father was diagnosed with Alzheimer's. (His sister and mother were both also diagnosed with Alzheimer's/dementia, it appears to run in my family.)

All through my life my dad has been driven, a highly skilled painter. It has comes as an enormous shock to see the man who painted every day of his life, now unable to draw let alone paint, and to see how he struggles with the basics such as cooking and feeding himself.

There are currently 750,000 people just like my dad with dementia in the UK, by 2021 there will be over a million.

Please help the Altzheimer's Society support suffers like my dad and their families by donating just a little bit of money.

Thank you.

£100 could pay for a brain scan for a participant in a clinical trial to help improve diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease.

£200 could help run one session of Singing for the Brain®, an Alzheimer’s Society activity that enables people with dementia and their carers to engage in the benefits of structured community singing. Involving singing and gentle exercise, the emphasis is on enjoyment, participation and equality.

£500 could pay for two sessions of our Carers’ Programme for 12 carers. The carers’ Programme offers practical tips and strategies to help carers to cope with the impact of dementia and gives them information so that they can access local services and start preparing for the future
