Story
Chris Holyoak and I have been extremely lucky (you may disagree) to get an entry to the race through the Surrey Hills Society after being unsuccessful in the ballot for one of the 20,000 places 6 months ago.
The beautiful Surrey Hills have been at the centre of our sporting efforts over the last 30 years. Our Sunday runs over the hills graduated to various marathons being completed and many shorter races as well. Now the knees need more TLC and cycling has been a natural progression.
100 miles is a serious distance and, with only 8 weeks' notice of our places in the race, we have had our work cut out. In the last 6 weeks I have done 46 rides totalling 55 hours cycling, 750 up and down hill miles and apparently used 21,490 calories are the statistics. But why have I lost no weight.?
Hopefully this is enough to get us around the course in 7 hours and enjoy the pleasure of 100 miles of London and Surrey roads In a very special way.
The Surrey Hills Society is a charity wanting to promote and care for the area for the enjoyment of all and requires help with funds to keep up their good work.
