Angus’s abseil from St Mary’s Church for Harpenden Spotlight on Africa · 1 June 2019

SoA delivers projects in challenging environments, transforming the lives of some of the poorest people in Africa. Working with experienced people on the ground in four key areas: education, health, clean water and income generation, we help people to build fulfilling lives.

Story

Angus planned to take part in HSOA "Swing for Their Supper" event at St Mary's Church, Welwyn on 1 June 2019. He climbed the tower and dangled over the edge but decided he wasn’t quite ready to take the plunge so Immy stepped in and abseiled down the outside of the church tower, a 100-foot tall structure, which dates back to the 17th century. Neither of them have ever abseiled before and were both really brave to help others.

HSOA currently work in urban and rural slums in Eastern Uganda where many people have been displaced from their homes by decades of conflict.  Their philosophy is development not dependence.  Because they are all volunteers over 95% of all donations go to their projects in Africa.

Once you donate through JustGiving, they'll send your money directly to HSOA. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
