Fundraising for Tearfund
Story
This will be the first time that I have attempted such a whopping tour and tackled so many hills in one week. However, I am incredibly enthusiastic and delighted to be in with the team on this 500+ mile, 38,000 feet of climbing Tour of Scotland! This year we are starting in Inverness and finishing in Dunoon, with a few wee hills on the way, including the infamous Bealach Na Ba, in reverse. The pain is worth it for the work Tearfund do all over the world and your donation will not only help some folk who have so little but will also help ease the saddle sores, aching limbs and help to push me up those hills. Feel free to contribute what you can and help us to raise as much as we can for a very good cause.
This year our fundraising will be directed to Tearfund's Children at risk project. As a team we hope to exceed previous years totals of over £10 000.
8.4 million children are in slavery and we must do everything in our power to stop this horror. Which is why Tearfund want to protect 50,000 children vulnerable to trafficking, disease and disaster.
Trafficking is the fastest growing crime in the world, ravaging the lives of 1.2 million children across the world every year. This is how your sponsor money can help...£36 can keep a girl safe by trafficking prevention training and skills training.
£60 pays for a local volunteer to travel round the local villages, setting up the trafficking prevention workshops.
£90 can train 10 teenage girls in life skills training, which can enable then to set up a small business.
