Thanks for stopping by!  As you might already know, in early 2015, as a fit, healthy young(ish) guy, I had a pulmonary embolism - a blood clot in my lung (actually, several...but who's counting!!) - triggered by a DVT (deep-vein thrombosis) in my leg.

What you might not know is that 274 people die every single day from blood clots (that's one every 6 minutes) and that there are more than 10 million cases worldwide every year.  Clots are also one of the leading causes of sudden death in young adults, and in heart attacks and strokes across all ages.

In fact, more people in the US and Europe die from blood clots than AIDS, breast cancer, prostate cancer and motor vehicle crashes combined.....and absolutely *any* of you could be affected.

And yet I bet most of you don't know a thing about them!

I was one of the lucky ones....despite being mis-diagnosed several times (even the doctors don't know what to look for) I was able to walk out of the hospital.  

Thousands of people don't.

I'm exceptionally fortunate to be able to run this marathon.  Despite my previous track record of running, swimming and cycling, it has taken an enormous physical and mental effort to get myself anywhere near the start, but that's really not the point.  I owe a lot to the doctors who I eventually found my way to, and to the information produced by Thrombosis UK.  I'd like to return the favour by raising some money so they can continue to build awareness of blood clots,  DVT and PE.
