Story

UPDATE!

Sadly due to injury I've had to pull out of this year's London Marathon. Perhaps it's the years catching up with me. However, all the below still stands apart from the running bit! One of our church members, Haizhong Yu, is still running the marathon on our behalf so please consider sponsoring him. His justgiving page is here.

In Spring this year I have a double anniversary - it is my 40th birthday and it's also 10 years since I moved to the East End of London to start the work of The Salvation Army in Stepney. I can think of no better place to have spent a quarter of my life! It's beautiful in its diversity, its creativity and its energy.

But it is an inner-city neighbourhood where things need to change. There are limits that stop us reaching our potential. Well, I've got some good news - The Salvation Army in Stepney is a passionate, dynamic and committed community of people who strive 'beyond the limits'. We promise that given further resources we can expand our children's and youth work significantly, work closer with families who don't have it easy, support the homeless, help older folk living on their own and build deep and permanent relationships between very diverse people groups.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
