Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Niemann-Pick Type C (NPC) is a rare inherited neurodegenerative disease that affects infants, children and adults. It is inherited when two copies of a faulty gene are passed on to a child. In every pregnancy of a couple who each carry a copy of the faulty Niemann-Pick gene, there is a 1 in 4 chance (25%) that their child will have Niemann-Pick disease.

Of my 3 siblings and I, Nicholas is our one in four.

Nick was diagnosed in May 2017 and nearly 6 years later, NPUK are as constant as ever.  Available, resourceful, approachable. Their services mean so much to the wider family, but in particular to Nick, his wife Reiko and their children.

As well as funding research into a potential cure, your valuable donation will help  with care, home visits, counselling, advocacy and a embolden a community who live with this disease on a daily basis.
