Hello, my name is Nicky Campbell me and my friend’s Cam Lewis, Ryan Maule and Dale Crozier want to help raise awareness of Aplastic Anaemia. We currently go to Gateshead College and we thought of the idea to do a sponsored cycle from St. James Park (Newcastle) to Wembley Stadium (London) and back. We are aged 19 and 17, 17 and 16 and we thought of this idea because our friend who also goes to Gateshead College Danielle Slipper and her family sadly lost her cousin Anthony Leedham to Aplastic Anaemia. In our local newspaper it said that Aplastic Anaemia affects only 1 in 500,000 people each year. This is why we want to help raise awareness of such a rare illness and we thought that we would do this over the 6 weeks off (summer holidays) because we will be off college and have no work to do over that period of time. We also thought by doing it in the summer holidays it would also give us time to train and to collect donations to help the trust to continue to help raise awareness
to.

We know Danielle's family are helping to raise awareness locally by selling things such as wrist bands, pens, necklaces etc. We thought this was a great idea and with me and Cam, Ryan and Dale enjoying exercise we thought we would come up with this idea of a cycle to try and help bring in more donations and hopefully help raise the awareness of Aplastic Anaemia.
