Story
Following on from us both successfully completing our first Marathon last October, Nic and I decided to raise the bar even further in 2013 and on Sunday 2 June will be taking part in the Outlaw Half – a Half Ironman distance triathlon - at the National Watersports Centre, Nottingham.
Last year’s marathon was a challenge but this event is going to involve us both digging deeper than we’ve ever gone before and will see us both attempting to swim 1.2 miles in the rowing lake, followed immediately by a 56 mile bike ride, and then a 13 mile run to finish! Start time will be 06:30 and we hope to be finished around 7 hours later..... if you want to read more about the event then please see their website at http://www.onestepbeyond.org.uk/outlaw-half-triathlon.php
We’ve again decided to use this as an opportunity to raise money for charity and this year have decided upon the Nottingham University Hospitals Charity, specifically their Children’s Hospital Appeal. Olivia spent quite a lot of time at hospital in her early years and Joseph is no stranger to them either! Both received fantastic care and we would like to help this to continue for other parents and children in the future. Nottingham Children’s Hospital cares for children and young people across the region for a whole range of conditions, from surgery and cancer care to emergencies and broken bones. The appeal seeks to fund a wide range of projects that gives them the best possible treatment and supports young patients who may find hospital stays a difficult time.
We've set ourselves a target of £500 and we should be able to add a further £500 to this figure through "matched giving" from Justin's employer.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - we raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
Thanks for your support.
