In memory of Alanna Ketley

Each week at least twelve young people in the UK die suddenly as a result of undiagnosed heart conditions. At Cardiac Risk In the Young we aim to save young lives & to help those affected by the sudden cardiac death. We do this by providing support, information & screening those affected.

Story

💜 A very special young lady Alanna Marie Ketley passed away suddenly from a Cardiac Arrest on 18th March 2016 aged just 18. She was not unwell. We did not know anything about what was about to happen. Just one normal night she went to bed and the next day she didn't wake up.

We would like to raise money for an incredible charity that not ONLY helps the families, mentally and physically, afterwards but ALSO offers tests free of charge to the whole of the UK BEFORE something happens!

Since Alanna's death, her older sister Laurie has been diagnosed with Brugada Syndrome (and fitted with a dual ICD/Pacemaker) and two of her younger sisters, Kamarah and Breanne, have an Implanted Loop Recorder due to irregularities with their hearts.

Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY) have supported the family with the pathology side of things with Alanna's heart after she had died. They have also supported them all mentally with counselling and physically with diagnosing.

OVER 12 people UNDER the age of 35 DIE EACH WEEK in the U.K. from a sudden cardiac arrest. CRY's vision is to prevent young sudden cardiac deaths through awareness, screening and research, and supporting affected families. This family would not be where they are today without them. They need funding to continue to work within the community as the government do NOT fund this yet.

We (the family of Alanna and many friends) are running/walking the Coventry Half Marathon on 18th March 2018.

Alanna's second Angelversary.

We need to do this for Alanna 💜

Forever and Always xxxx

** Due to the Coventry Half Marathon being cancelled, we have now signed up for the Solihull Half Marathon on Sunday 8th April 2018.
