Tandem skydive for Amy and Friends · 28 July 2018
I have been involved with Amy and friends for roughly 3 years. Jess and Amy have Cockayne Syndrome (CS) which is a rare inherited disease affecting DNA repair. There is currently no cure or treatment for CS and the average life expectancy is 12 years of age.
The charity supports families who have children with CS and families who have lost children from this disease. Over the past 3 years I have met some incredibly inspirational people through the charity. Jess(12), Amy (26) and Felix(5) have stolen my heart and always put a smile on my face. Jess,Amy and Felix live life to the full in spite of their afflictions. I will be doing the skydive with Ami and Trav Knowles who lost their beautiful sister, Grace, at the age of 4 and buried her on her 5th birthday. I am raising money to help with the costs of the yearly retreat which is being held in August.
I will be throwing myself out of a plane on 5th August in Lancashire at 12,000 feet. I have had a long-standing fear of flying ever since I was little. Many journies have typically involved clutching onto my mum, boyfriend or a poor stranger’s hand while chugging some alcohol in the other hand. However I am an adrenaline junkie at heart having completed the world’s fasted zipwire in Wales and walking up the track of The Big One in Blackpool. Throwing myself out of a plane seems like the next logical, albeit very scary step to me.I also know that this will make a huge difference to everyone involved with the charity.
Please donate no matter how small, any amount is greatly appreciated (please don't forget to add gift aid as this is no extra cost).
Note- I will be self-funding the sky dive so 100 percent of the donations will go towards Amy and Friends.
Thanks for taking the time to read my story and if you want to find out more about Amy and friends please see the link below.
