As I'm running the SLMM and this is going to require no little effort on my part, I thought I'd use this as an opportunity to raise some money.  I've chosen the Fix the Fells campaign, the charity protecting the Lake District by repairing and maintaining footpaths, as this seems both appropriate to the event and because I've had a lifetime of enjoyment from the footpaths in the Lake District.  I won't be offended if others don't see this charity as a priority! 

For anyone who's interested, I will be running in the Wansfell class of the SLMM www.slmm.org.uk.  I've never run anything like this before!  My partner Mary tells me that it's not really a marathon and you don't really have to run ... However she also mentioned that there wouldn't be time to eat sandwiches so I'm assuming that it's not exactly a picnic in the park ...

I'm sure it will also be incredibly scenic and an amazing experience!
