At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding groundbreaking research.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

As we are all living longer lives, we face the likelyhood of either caring for a relative with, or indeed may suffer ourselves from dementia. A dreadful degenerative condition.

The Alzheimer's Society UK funds research into the cause and offers direct support to families who care for sufferers on a day to day basis.

With an ongoing family experience of this condition. I've chosen my 50th year to contibute personally to support this charity. By climbing to the "Roof of Africa".

After months of trudging and cycling around the Scottish hills through the delightful winter months, I will be taking a wee walk up Africa's highest mountain, Kilimanjaro in February.

I spent a week under canvas in -20'c at times, but a final walk of 8.30hours, from the Barrafu base camp, got me to the summit of Africa's highest mountain at 04.00GMT on Valentine's day.

Please support and help the Alzheimer's Society
