Story
Well, the season is now over. Three Olympic Triathlons and a Half Ironman all completed. In total since I started training on 2nd April I swam 37km, cycled 1087km and ran 380km.
In terms of times for the racing, I knocked 6 minutes off last years London Triathlon time, which was a bit dissapointing as I was after 12 minutes, but I managed to hobble round the 1/2IM in 5 hours 25 minutes, which was better than expected. Overall a good result.
The weakness is still the running. Benchmarked against the better people in the age group I am 14% slower on the swim, 6% slower on the bike but 21% slower on the run. If I'm going to keep this up it's the running where I can really make up the time.
The thinking cap is on for next year. I have really enjoyed this years program, but completing a 1/2IM now feels like a job half done.
The total raised this year has been fantastic. The RNLI are a wonderful institution without whom the sailors amongst us would be playing a far more dangerous game. If we take to the water we have a duty to support them. Between us this year we have made a significant contribution.
Thanks,
Nigel
