This Autumn I decided to sign up as a volunteer with OAB. Once my training is complete I shall be assigned to a blind or visually impaired person in the local area. Here I shall spend an hour or so a week with them, just for company or helping out with simple day to day tasks that people like us with sight completely take for granted: be it reading some post, sewing on a button, popping to the shops or going for a walk .... tasks that without your sight are difficult or even impossible. 

Not only is this charity close to my heart, dear Granny Lissa lost her sight to macular degeneration but I welcome the opportunity to help local people less fortunate than myself in what little way I can. 

I've been brought up on the mantra that life is all about caring, sharing and helping others when you can. So here's to a new volunteering opportunity! 

As many of you know, I love to keep fit. It's been a while since I've entered a race, but here I go again. I am running the Henley Half Marathon next weekend, Sunday 8th October and thought why not raise some money for this fantastic local charity at the same time. Please donate as little or as much as you manage, every little really does help and will make the 13 miles seem that more worthwhile if I know my efforts will contribute to helping someone else!
