Story
In October 2014 we received the devastating news that Nikky had developed a stage 4 brain tumour.
She battled through 24 months of traditional and new therapies to slow the terminal illness down however in January 2017 the disease had taken a firm hold and we took the difficult decision to stop all treatment. Nikky passed away 6 months later leaving behind myself and our 2 young boys, Cairn(4yrs) and Logan(8yrs).
For the last 12 weeks of her life, Nikky was cared for by the Marie Curie Hospice in Edinburgh.
The warmth and support that was extended to all our family during this extremely difficult time was truly amazing and will never be forgotten. With this in mind I would like to raise money for Marie Curie in Edinburgh so that others who find themselves in this situation, can receive the same support during the hardest times a family can experience.”
The Edinburgh hospice alone costs £12,939 per day to run, of which Marie Curie pays £6,175 (£4.7million per annum).
The 2018 Ball raised over £48,500 and after the great support and feedback from all who contributed and attended we are holding the 2nd event on Saturday 26th January 2019 at the Edinburgh Sheraton Grand Hotel & Spa
