Story
UPDATE 21/10/11: Page now closed and all money has been forwarded to Water Aid - I raised £791 total - thanks again to all who donated.
UPDATE 19/9/11: Most money in now and UU have also confirmed the £250 match funding. The total raised will be in excess of £760, so thanks again to all who sponsored me!
UPDATE 4/9/11: Well, I did it! And I also beat my target time - total time was 1h 26m 43s.
Very, very pleased that I didn't need to use oxygen, EPO, be carried over the line or to call on any of the emergency services on the way home!
Thank you so much to all those who have sponsored me - I've smashed the target I set (currently I'll have raised £600+ with UU's generous match funding of £250). It's really appreciated and DID make a difference to the performance today (I didn't DARE not finish!)
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Very foolishly, I have decided to defy my approaching "significant birthday" by entering the first race since I left school over thirty years ago! Not content with a 5k run, I decided to go for it and attempt a triathlon - something I've fancied having a go at for a couple of years.
So I'll be doing the North West Triathlon http://www.fun2tri.co.uk/north_west/index.htm on 4 September 2011. I'm going for the "sprint" distance, which is 500m swim, 20k ride and 5k run. My goal is to survive the event without having to walk during the final "run" stage - if I can finish under 1h 40m I'll be delighted!
I have decided to use the event to support Water Aid and my employers United Utilities will provide matched funding of up to £250.
WaterAid and its partners use practical solutions to provide safe water, effective sanitation and hygiene education to the world’s poorest people. They also seek to influence policy at national and international levels.
so please dig deep in aid of this fantastic cause.
