Leif Cocks Kalimantan Orangutans Tour · 9 October 2018 to 16 October 2018 ·

Working to save entire, intact, functioning ecosystems for all wildlife and humanity. The original mission was expanded to include actions to protect Sumatran tigers, Sumatran elephants and indigenous communities who fall outside the protective umbrella of our orangutan conservation initiatives.

Story

Our story begins in 2015 at the Berlin zoo. We saw orangutans in captivity and were deeply affected by the experience. Shortly thereafter, Noelle started supporting The Orangutan Project, and “adopted” two orphaned babies, Rocky and Rickina (pictured above).

Last winter we heard Leif Cocks, The Orangutan Project’s founder, speak in Toronto. We were inspired by his commitment to rainforest conservation and to saving the orangutan species from extinction.

In October we are traveling to Borneo on a tour to see orangutans in the wild, to better understand their urgent situation, and to volunteer with International Animal Rescue Indonesia. We are raising much-needed funds to protect the rainforest and to help Rocky and Rickina (and all orangutans!) in their rehabilitation and eventual return to their forest home.

All money raised will go directly to The Orangutan Project.
