In memory of Noreen Cannon

Tony Cannon, Chair of the Friends of Good Hope Hospital, has set up this page with the help of the hospital charity in memory of his wife Noreen who died in Good Hope on Tuesday 31st March 2020.
Noreen had a great affinity for Good Hope having been successfully treated there for Bowel Cancer in 2004.
Unfortunately, she ultimately succumbed to Vascular Dementia which she fought bitterly right to the end.
For the last 18 months of her life she was supported by Tony and Nichola Dutton, a support worker supplied by Jubilee Citizens UK based in Boldmere. This gave her a good quality of life right up until the last few weeks.
She was admitted to Good Hope from the Nursing Home on the 25th March and despite COVID she received great care culminating in end of life care on Ward 8 who treated her with great kindness and compassion. They allowed Tony to spend time with her and she
died in his arms.
It was a great comfort to him that she died in Good Hope and he will be forever grateful to the nursing team. They had been married for 46
years and Noreen had a long and happy life, she was incredibly special and is greatly missed by her family.
All donations will go towards the creation of a Therapeutic and Sensory Garden outside the Homeward unit at Good Hope which is an intensive rehabilitation unit designed restore a patient’s ability to live independently and get them back home as soon as possible. Noreen
was fiercely independent and would approve of the money being used for this purpose. A permanent plague will be erected in her memory in the garden.
