On returning from our overland trip to South and Central America in  2007 my wife Barbara was becoming very fidgety and forgetful and so she went for a check up. It was then she was diagnosed as having Huntington's Disease. It was a terrible shock.

Huntington's Disease , which is often called HD is a hereditary disorder of the central nervous system. HD is caused by a faulty geneon chronosone 4 and the faulty gene leads to damage of the nerve cells in areas of the brain. This leads to gradual physical, mental and emotional changes. Each person whose parent has HD is born with a 50/50 chance of inheriting the faulty gene. There is currently no cure! it is always terminal.

HD is not confinded to the UK but is world wide. I love travelling and decided on this trip to bring awareness of HD to as many people as possible and to raise as much money as I can for the vital support it gives to families who are affected by HD, and hopefully a cure. My wife and I drove round the world from June 2010 until Septenber 2012 and raised £7490.21. Sadly my wife passed away in January 2013.
