* My Tearfund 366 challenge is on hold for this week *
Some readers may remember my "70 marathons in 70 weeks", walking and running, in memory of my sister in law, Frances Conlan, who was given wonderful care in the Hospice and by Hospice staff in her own home during 2016. Our family, friends and even strangers donated over £15,000 so that others could benefit as we did.
Hospice is much more than a place where people die, it's where people live with dignity, comfort and peace during a very difficult time. The love and compassion extends to family members.
Due to Covid19, all 25 Hospice shops are closed and numerous fundraising events have been cancelled. Less than one third of Hospice income comes from Government and, to date (25th April), no support package has been granted. An Emergency Appeal "Never have we needed you more", has been launched. Amendment on 6th May - NI Executive grant £3.2 million to Hospice and Childrens Hospice.
So, now that I'm 73 years old I plan to walk/run 73 kilometres, which is 1,000 laps of a 73 metre course around my house and garden, in the week commencing 4th May.
You can help by donating here. Thank you very sincerely. Also, please help by telling your relatives and friends about this.
PS, in this emergency I'm pausing Tearfund fundraising for the week. Take care and keep safe in these strange times, Norman.
