Vicky's North Channel Swim - Ireland > Scotland

North Channel Swim - Ireland > Scotland · 7 July 2015
In July, I am going to attempt to swim from Ireland to Scotland to raise money for Water Aid. This will be a 22 mile swim, in a sea temperature of around 12-13 degrees. It’s considered one of the world’s toughest swimming challenges with a fairly low success rate due to nasty jellyfish, hypothermia & pretty challenging weather conditions, but I have worked hard to get ready for the swim and cannot wait to get out to Ireland and get started! If I am successful, I will be one of less than 30 people globally to complete it.
Water Aid is a fantastic charity helping address key challenges around water which affect billions of people in ways that are hard to imagine when living in the UK. Last year, I was absolutely overwhelmed by the support for Water Aid so there is absolutely no pressure to donate again, but since many people have asked, I am happy to be raising money for the same worthy cause.
Over 748 million people live without access to clean, safe water, and 2.5 billion people don’t have access to adequate sanitation. This has a huge impact on people’s lives with over 500,000 children dying every year from diarrhea caused by unsafe water and clean sanitation. Your donation can make a significant difference, for example:
£15 pays for Tools to build a well
£25 pays for Training for a local water and sanitation committee
Thank you so much for visiting this page and considering donating to Water Aid, whatever you would like to give would be hugely appreciated and will help motivate me as I take on this watery adventure.
