We will be raising money for Cystic Fybrosis (CF), which is one of the UK's most common life-threatening inherited diseases. Affecting over 9,000 people in the UK, CF affects internal organs particularly the lungs and digestive system, making it difficult for sufferers to breathe and digest food. The sad fact is that there is presently no cure. In 1964, when the CF Trust was formed, many children with CF didn't live past their 5th birthday. However, due in part to the incredible progress that has been made in treating and understanding the condition, adults with CF are living into their 30s, 40s, 50s and beyond. The Trust’s ground breaking gene therapy research is leading the world and making encouraging progress, with a real hope that life-threatening aspect of CF will be diminished. Clinical trials are already underway, but they need more donations in order to continue with their fantastic progress to date.
