Story

Hey all,

Please help us to fundraise for Oxfordshire Association for the Blind!

The OAB is a charity that has been helping the blind and visually impaired people of Oxfordshire since 1877. They offer a range of services, free of charge to anyone dealing with vision loss in the county.

They help people such as Nathan Tree to regain confidence and build the skills to live a happy and meaningful life despite dealing with loss of vision.

Heres Nathan's story:

"The Oxfordshire Association for the Blind is a charity that literally saved my life. In 2009 i found out that i was losing my sight due to a rare condition known as Retinitis Pugmentosa. A condition that affects all aspects of my vision and is getting progressively worse.

In 2017 it beat me! I suffered from a bout of depression and anxiety so bad i couldn't leave the house and chose to lock myself away as opposed to participating in normal life. I knew that this wasn't me after a while and tried to find some help. After being fobbed off with drugs by the NHS that made matter worse, i decided to see what kind of counselling was out there.

OAB is blessed to have a wonderful and very hellpful consellor called Judith who provides help free of charge to people dealing with sight loss. Judith was incredible in helping me deal with the grief that had built up from years of suffering with no help. She helped me to regain my confidence and reclaim my life.

And for anyone keeping up with me, i would say it worked pretty well!"

OAB are not government funded and rely on the kindness of the public to keep helping people in need.
