Story

Hi Guys, Welcome to my fundraising page.

March is fast approaching, and with it comes the Bath Half Marathon which it would appear i’ve foolishly entered myself in for.  Other than to fulfill my super competitive nature, I'm also aiming to raise a good wad of cash for Cancer Research UK.

Cancer Research is a charity that really needs no introduction but as many of you will know after the death of my mum last year is a charity very close to my heart.

The scary statistics are that every 2 minutes someone, somewhere in the UK is diagnosed with cancer and every 4 minutes someone  in the UK dies from the disease.  To put this in perspective out of 3 of your friends at least 1 is likely to develop some form of cancer during their lifetime.

Thanks largely to the work of cancer research UK however, the trends are being bucked and overall cancer death rates are falling.  New drugs are on trial for the treatment of hereditary cancers;  better radiotherapy treatments are being introduced for breast cancer, and Cancer Research UK funded scientists continue to make breakthroughs in isolating the parts of our genome linked to cancer.

For these advances in treatment and prevention to continue Cancer Research UK depends on the generous donations of members of the public.

So please support my sweaty run through Bath and donate now.  You don’t have to dig deep, just whatever you can afford - all donations will be greatly appreciated.

All the best and lots of love,

Oli.
