Opening your Heart to Bhutan, the inspiring brainchild of Bhutan-ordained British Buddhist nun Ani Pema Deki, works tirelessly to improve conditions and life opportunities for impoverished young people in rural Bhutan. They work closely with local highly regulated charities and all money raised goes directly to those in their care.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit this JustGiving page.

In November Lisa Milnor will be travelling to Bhutan and will be visiting a training centre for visually impaired musicians near the city of Thimphu in Bhutan.

"The primary focus of the "Blind Music Training Centre of Bhutan" is to provide an opportunity for disabled persons (visually impaired) to showcase their ability and to consequently gain employment or earn their own living. This is also to give hope for all the Visually Impaired in Bhutan that there is a light at the end of the tunnel.  This initiative is also an immediate rescue to a group of young Visually Impaired persons who are presently struggling for survival. Thus, this initiative is taken to benefit the Visually Impaired youths, especially who are school dropouts, displaced from homes and families, and without any means to support themselves."

Opening Your Heart to Bhutan has recently being supporting the centre by buying food so that the students can have breakfast.  Such are the conditions at the centre that they were not able to afford something that most of us take for granted.

There is a need for a fridge to store food for the 19 students who attend the centre and we would love to be able to purchase this during our visit which is planned for the 12th November 2019.

If you could help contribute towards the £300 needed to buy the fridge within the next 3 weeks that would be just amazing and we know the students would be hugely grateful.
