Event: Step Up 2022, from 1 January 2022 to 31 January 2022
Approximately 150,000 people in Ireland are living with a brain injury today. We are asking you to Step Up and take 150,000 steps between January 1st and 31st. Start the year right by raising vital funds for Acquired Brain Injury Ireland.

Story

As some of you may know, in May 2019 I had a brain haemorrhage causing partial paralysis on my left side, similar to a stroke. The haemorrhage was caused by an AVM which I received radiotherapy on to eradicate it and minimise the risk of another bleed.

Luckily, I have been blessed with great family and friends support network along with professional support to help me regain my full potential.

One such support system was and continues to be Acquired Brain Injuries Ireland (ABI). They cater to the 150,000 people in Ireland suffering from acquired brain injuries such as mine.

I have decided to join them in raising money during the month of January. I plan to walk 300,000 steps in the month of January. This is 2 steps for each survivor of an acquired brain injury in Ireland.

Please donate whatever you can afford and if you would like to join me for a walk, please let me know and we can organise it !!

ABI is a worthy cause and has helped me in ways I could never have imagined I’d need help with.

Remember the signs of a stroke - FAST

Face - Facial drooping
Arm - Arm weakness
Speech - Speech difficulties
Time - Call 999 ASAP
