On the 12th May 2019 Mr Cowburn, Mr Farish and Miss Joiner have entered a Team Triathlon to raise funds for Hope House as a local charity to Shropshire.
As most will already know a triathlon is a swim, followed by a bike and then a run of varying distances, in this instance the swim is 500m, the cycle is 21kilometres and the run is 5 kilometres with one person completing each discipline each in a team relay of three members. In the Oldbury Team the swim will be completed by Mr Cowburn, the cycle by Miss Joiner and the run by Mr Farish having tried to choose the discipline with works to each person’s strength.
Mr Cowburn having the background as a competitive swimmer, Miss Joiner as an all-out fitness fanatic who will always take on any challenge and Mr Farish leading the way in the school 1500m lessons during the athletics term. The team have been in training for the last 6-7 weeks with Mr Farish regularly completing park runs, Mr Cowburn training as often as possible and Miss Joiner completing a variety of fitness classes along side her rides over the weekend. The chances of the team completing the distance in a competitive time looking good having been checking each disciplines time against the times from 2017 and 2018.
The chosen charity of Hope House was chosen due to is location in the local area of Shropshire with all three teachers keen to help a local charity.
