Story

In the run up to Christmas last year, our family was sadly taken by surprise when my wife Polly was rushed to hospital with septic pneumonia.  She was immediately placed into a resuscitation room with 95% oxygen being pumped into her lungs. Pols ended up being sedated in a high dependency unit as the situation got serious and the infection was spreading to her other vital organs.  Not long after, she was moved to ICU with discussions of being placed on life support.

There were 2/3 days where it was very much touch and go.  To make matters worse our baby daughter Coco, who had only been breast fed up to this stage, contracted another virus and had to go on a drip in the same hospital for 5 nights.

Polly slowly recovered, spending a week in Intensive Care of West Middlesex Hospital.   The NHS was truly exceptional and I have no doubt that ICU saved her life.  We are deeply grateful.

Pols spent another three weeks on a normal ward rebuilding her strength and learning how to breathe by herself and walk again with daily physio. Missing our daughters birthday and our first Christmas as a family of four was really challenging for her but finally reuniting with our girls after weeks in hospital was a really special moment.

It took another 3/4 months for Polly to fully recover, be active and regain her confidence.

To say thank you for saving our family, we would like to raise as much as money as we can that will go directly to the Intensive Care Unit of West Middlesex Hospital.

In order to do this I am going to do something really bloody hard.  A marathon over Snowdon with over 5,000 ft of elevation on September 2nd...not easy for someone currently weighing 100 kg!

Thank you for your support!  It really means a lot to our family.
