Story

This challenge, to cycle to the birthplace of the founder of our school, was originally the idea of our head of sixth form and initially he imagined just a couple of people wanting to take part after the summer exams.  However, word got out and suddenly everyone's Christmas wish, including mine, was a road bike.

Since then we have been training regularly as a team,  and most Friday afternoons I have found myself doing battle with Portsdown hill, trailing Shaun and Roy who seem to find it irritatingly effortless!

However, it is great fun and I am certainly developing better endurance, which I think I am going to need!  With the end of exams in sight, we are looking forward to putting in more hours on the road, and to the trip itself.  Whilst doing this as a personal challenge we are also hoping to raise a good deal of money for both Help for Heroes and the Fanconi Hope charity which  supports young people living with the dehabilitating fanconi disease.
