We help children with disabilities to achieve their potential

Story

Hi, I'm cycling one end of GB to the other; John o'Groats (JOG) to Lands End (LE), also known as the JOGLE!

Key facts: I'm riding solo, 1,525km (950 miles), 7.5 days in the saddle (ouch), unsupported with just my toothbrush, credit card and small bag of essentials!

Why?

First and foremost, the challenge - it's something i've aspired to do for a while and the timing was right. Secondly, I am hoping to raise money for Brainwave, an amazing charity that helps children with disabilities achieve greater independence. My late sister, Heidi Hopley, who sadly passed away last year aged 41, worked as a therapist for Brainwave most her working life. You can learn more about their great work at www.brainwave.org.uk. If you'd like to sponsor me, any donations, no matter how small or large, will be hugely appreciated.

Trip Overview

My adventure begins Tue 1 - John o'Groats, Scotland, the most northern tip of mainland GB and if the next 7.5 days go to plan, I expect to arrive at Lands End, the most southern tip of GB, on Mon 19th Jun. I need to ave. 200km (8+ hours on the saddle) per day and I am taking a direct route - no time for sightseeing. I'll be posting updates to FB along the way.

What to expect?

I'm expecting a severe discomfort! The furthest i've ever cycled in a day is 160km, that was 7 years ago and the end wasn't pretty. This trip is going to push me physically and mentally and I'll need all the help I can get, so will be consuming carbs by the bucket-load and smothering my backside in Sudocream every night.

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page
