Story
Welcome
Hello Everyone, Welcome to my Just Giving donating page.
Firstly, I would like to thank you for spending the time visiting my site. The Just Giving system is totally safe and all donations go directly to my chosen charity which is of course Dementia UK.
Why have I chosen this charity?
Unfortunately, my late Grandma suffered with Dementia. It's an illness which affects not only its victim, but the whole family too. It was awful to witness and put the family through some tough times. The experience has made me want to make a difference. The money you donate will go towards both the ongoing research in finding a cure and improving the quality of life for those already suffering.
What is Dementia?
Dementia is a term that is used to describe a collection of symptoms including memory loss, problems with reasoning and communication skills, and a reduction in a person's ability to carry out daily activities.
Ø There are currently 800,000 people with dementia in the UK.- There will be over a million people with dementia by 2021.
Ø The financial cost of dementia to the UK will be over £23 billion in 2012.
Ø Family carers of people with dementia save the UK over £8 billion a year.

So, on to my Challenge...
In October 2012 I am attempting to climb Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, Africa. The trek will take 8 days and will be fully self-funded. (I will pay for my flights and entry fee) meaning 100% of the money (if you were to donate) will go straight to Dementia UK.
Kilimanjaro sits at at 5,895 metres or 19,341 feet above sea level and is by far the highest mountain in Africa.
The challenge is going to be tough, however im sure that with your support and with my goal set in my mind, i will reach the summit!
If you could support me with my mission by making a donation, I would appreciate it so much! The difference we could all make to those suffering with Dementia has to be worth the challenge!
