Ollie's Marathon for Alex with Scope

London Marathon 2019 · 28 April 2019 ·
My younger cousin Alex was born with cerebral palsy, impairing him from walking, talking and controlling his muscles properly. He can still recognise people, places, express his emotions and does enjoy doing certain things - one of which is going to the beach.
As you can imagine, getting onto a beach with someone who is wheelchair bound is quite a task. So, when I was in College, I designed and built as part of my engineering course an off-road wheelchair to give him access to the beach and sea where I grew up in Cornwall. Designing and building the wheelchair inspired me to study for a degree in Engineering, leading me to where I am today.
I have always wanted to do something for Alex again, and others like him who are not just suffers of cerebral palsy, but conditions which are incurable and severely restricting in life. I enjoy a challenge and have always wanted to run the Virgin London Marathon after transitioning from rowing. The charity Scope who support people like Alex, have kindly given me a place in the 2019 run.
I pledged to Scope to raise £3000 for people like Alex who need their support in life, as growing up with Alex made me realise how lucky I am to do the things I enjoy and take for granted.
Please support the people Scope help by donating what you can, it truly means a lot and will spur me on to keep training for the big day!
