Story

Hello!

I'm running this year's EMF Half Marathon for the Cirdan Sailing Trust. Cirdan give young people the opportunity to spend a week aboard a sailing vessel, and take ownership of their voyage - learning vital skills that you just can't get in the classroom.

I'm very lucky to have taken part in a number of voyages, as a young person, volunteer and young leader.  The confidence and skills I gained on board have stayed with me years later. I already had a keen sailing interest, but these experiences drove them forward. I'm adamant that I would never have had the confidence to go abroad and teach sailing at camp, had I never been on a Cirdan voyage.

As a volunteer, I've seen first hand the impact these voyages have on young people. It's very hard to put into words just how great the effect is. By the end of the week, every young person that steps on board leaves with an accomplishment - and they might never have had that feeling before.

Kids have a lot of catching up to do, having missed out on so much school and opportunities for adventure. Donating to Cirdan will help more young people experience what the sea has to offer.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
