Sense is here to support disabled people from the first weeks of life through all the major milestones of adulthood. Over 70 years, we’ve built extensive knowledge and expertise in supporting disabled people with complex needs, including deafblind people.

Story

We have decided to take on the challenge of running the 2020 London Marathon in memory of James’s sister-in-law’s daughter, Sara Maria, who passed away in 2016. She was 5 years old.

Sara had several disabilities due to her condition, Dandy Walker Syndrome. Her health conditions included epilepsy, cortical vision impairment, hip dysplasia and scoliosis. Sara was disabled in so many ways but was an incredibly happy child. Sara had a huge love for music, which was discovered during her music lessons at Sense.

The family will be forever grateful to Sense for providing them with the help and support that they needed when having a child with such
complex needs, and for providing Sara with the utmost care and dedication that helped her to enjoy her little life to the fullest.

Sense is a national charity that supports people who are deafblind, have sensory impairments or complex needs, to enjoy more independent lives.

Any donations would be greatly appreciated, thank you.
