Thank you for visiting my Just Giving Page.
I’m looking forward to participating in my 3rd Games as part of the Kings Team and seeing if I can beat my medals from last year.
Once I registration is open I will let you know which sports I will be participating in.
Thank you for visiting our team page - we are all fundraising on behalf of the King's Children's Transplant Team reference BTG D2338. King's Children's Transplant Team are children and young people who have had liver, small bowel, or multi organ transplants at King's College Hospital. The team takes part in The British Transplant Games each summer. The games take place in the summer holidays, in different cities around the UK. They are packed full of sports and social events for children and parents to meet other families who have had similar experiences and to celebrate life and organ donation. Children can take part in events such as archery, obstacle race, ball throw, swimming, badminton, table tennis, or track & field and there are events for siblings and parents too! In 2020 the Games are being held in Coventry, from Thursday 30 July to Monday 3 August.*****King’s College Hospital leads the field in the care and treatment of patients with liver disorders and is known worldwide for its expertise. The hospital runs the largest liver transplant programme in Europe. Each year, almost 50 children receive liver transplants at King’s. Our team are a shining example of the world-class care that children receive at King's every day. Taking part in the British Transplant Games is a life-changing opportunity for children who have undergone a transplant. It has an abundance of benefits for children and families, from providing them with a support network of families who’ve been through similar experiences to promoting physical and psychological recovery and helps them build confidence and self-esteem.Our children have often missed out on aspects of normal childhood due to long spells in hospital. This can leave them feeling isolated from their friends. It's easy for children and young people who have had transplants to feel different and to see their difference as a bad thing. Being part of a team of patients, families and friends provides our children and families with much-needed support and encouragement long after the weekend has ended. With patients coming from across the country to receive specialist care at King’s, the Games are especially important for bringing families together and allowing them to share their experiences.
