Trek to Machu Picchu · 27 July 2012
Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
My nephew Thomas is 5 years old and was diagnosed with ALL Leukaemia on 14th December 2011.
Leukaemia is a cancer of the blood. It is the most common cancer in children, accounting for around one third of cases.
Almost 500 children are diagnosed with leukaemia every year in the UK. More than half of these children are under the age of five years.
Please dig deep and donate now to help me raise as much money as possible for children's cancer, my target is £4,000 but I want to raise more to help those families, like mine, who've been affected across the country by this terrible disease.
This is what i'll be doing each day on the trek:

How will your donations help and what will it go towards?
A significant proportion of the funds raised go towards helping children with cancer and their families cope with the trauma of diagnosis and treatment.
Research to try to find a cure to Leukaemia.
Care and redevelopment at Great Ormond Street Hospital.
Funding for children's hospices.
Paul O’Gorman Lifeline - which helps to provide treatment for children from eastern Europe and central Asia with life-threatening illnesses.
I have had some more unfortunate news that a student in my form (year 7) at school, Timothy, who had previously overcome Leukaemia has had the awful disease return and has been readmitted back into hospital this January so now I have both a personal and professional reason for raising as much as I can and completing the trek!
