I have created this page to help raise as much money as possible for the village of Gunjur in The Gambia. In November 2013 , I spent a week volunteering in a small village in The Gambia as part of my Duke of Edinburgh Gold Business Award. 

As you can see Via the Pictures within this profile page – The team and I had pledged to support a women’s agricultural project in the small village of Gunjur. The Fayunku Community Vegetable Garden is a key source of independence and income for the village’s women. Through irrigation and marketing training, the garden allows over 200 women to grow a range of crops all year to provide a sustainable income for them and their families. In all, upwards of 1600 people are supported through this programme. Our team was successful in building a wood and stone enclosure around the area to protect it from cattle and pests. 

As well as having a life-changing impact on the people of the village, the experience had a profound effect on me. “My Gambia visit was the most rewarding life experience I’ve ever had. The area is called the ‘Smiling Coast’ and it couldn’t have been truer: the people are the friendliest and most loving people I’ve ever met and their hospitality was unbelievable.  The Gambians work ethic is so impressive. Everyone comes together in order to make their village a better place.

The difference our project and all other MBG Projects has on the local people of Gunjur is amazing and our efforts are very much appreciated.  

In November 2014 , I returned to Gunjur again accompanied by my wife and a group of volunteers to help build another development project. This project focused on developing youth skills. The project is chosen by the village depending on what they need so the specifics are revealed closer to the time.
