We raise funds for St George's Hospital to improve outcomes in neurosurgery

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

A very dear family friend Richard Sullivan was diagnosed with a rare malignant brain tumour in December 21.

Richard is the inspiration behind www.project21forlife.com. Having undergone surgery for his brain tumour, Richard was discharged from St Georges on 21-12-21.

The project aims to raise funds for the John King Brain Tumour Foundation through events and activities of individuals of all ages.

Grateful for the outstanding treatment provided by the surgeons at St George’s Hospital and the ongoing excellent care at the Royal Marsden - and mindful that less than 3% of cancer research funding annually is allocated to brain tumour cancers - Richard is determined to make a difference, despite currently undergoing an intense programme of radiotherapy and chemotherapy.

To support Richard's Project21Forlife initiative, I will be attempting to prone board the length of Loch Ness from Fort Augustus to Lochend. Prone boarding involves using your arms to propel yourself through the water on your knees or stomach.

The distance is 36km or 22 miles. I will be attempting this challenge on the 21st of June 2022.

Richard is an inspiration to turn life’s bad luck into something beautiful and to stay positive at this challenging time. In light of this, I would be incredibly grateful for any donations offered in support of the Project21ForLife Initiative.

If you'd like to follow this challenge, follow the link to my Instagram page, where you can keep up to date on training and progress and the event itself on the 21st of June.

The team of participants have done incredibly well through a variety of challenges raising a staggering £26,000. In taking on this challenge I hope that we can keep the momentum up right until the final day on the 21st of June to assist Richard in hitting his £50,000 target.

Thank you!

Connor Kelly
