Target Ovarian Cancer is a charity which is close to my heart. My mum spent much of her time between diagnosis and her death campaigning and raising awareness of this disease (and flashing her legs obviously!) because she wanted to stop other women dying when they didn't need to.

Despite Ovarian Cancer being the fourth most common cancer amongst women in the UK, and the biggest gynaecological killer, almost a third of women face delays of six months or more in getting a correct diagnosis. Ovarian cancer is behind many others types of cancer in terms of research investment, screening and treatment and there is a real gap in the knowledge of health professionals and their ability to diagnose quickly.

This often makes the difference between life and death - it really does. My mum was not diagnosed quickly despite repeated visits to her GP. As a result she sadly passed away with all her family beside her on 4th December 2014.

Gordon and I have decided to run another marathon after my over training injury stopped me doing Brighton....
