With one in two people in the UK being diagnosed with Cancer during their life, everyone is affected by the disease. Sadly last year on the 28th May 2018 my (Eleanor’s) mum Liz Heath lost her life to Cancer, and around six months later on the 13th December 2018 my (Mimi’s) Dad also lost his life to Cancer.

We’ve known each other for almost 10 years and it’s safe to say we never thought we would be experiencing this journey together at such a young age. Anyone who knows us knows that beyond the struggles we have faced this year we have been determined to stay strong and keep smiles on our faces to keep our parents proud. Despite how it may look there is never an easy day. We are both largely aware of the uncomfortable taboo surrounding the topic of grief related to Cancer. It can often be forgotten that merely a conversation can help to cut this stigma.

By doing this skydive we hope to raise as much money as possible for an incredible cause and try to make a small difference for a charity so close to our hearts. This past year our friends and family have demonstrated a huge amount of support, so much so that 27 of them are jumping out of a plane for us!! In order to raise money for Cancer Research in memory of Ben and Liz.

Before they passed both Liz and Ben emphasised the importance of living your life to the full.  Ben strongly believed in not taking yourself too seriously and Liz was a firm believer in not sweating the small stuff in life, two very important messages that we both try to live by.

Life is short. Take every opportunity to tell those closest to you how much they mean to you, surround yourself with people that make you happy and be grateful for the small things in life, you never know what tomorrow will bring.
