Did you know that in Britain the food we waste every year is enough to feed Africa twice over? Did you also know it has been almost 2 years since rain has fallen in the most affected regions of the East Africa crisis?

This means there has been no vegetation or farming in the most affected regions such as; Somalia, Kenya, Ethiopia, Sudan and Tunisia to name a few. This crisis has been recorded as the biggest crisis of modern times - with a staggering 38 million people suffering from famine, an estimated 13 million people at risk of dying due to starvation and an estimated 750,000 people at risk of dying before the end of this year.

Summer is here and the heat will increase and the drought will worsen. It is up to us to compromise and to sacrifice to ensure that the other members of our community (humanity) have the opportunity to basic human needs such as; water, food and shelter.

Could you imagine what it feels like to go to sleep hungry, to wake up hungry? Or to be thirsty? and not be able to do anything about it?

Did you know over 70 per cent of the human body is made up of water? We can survive a 3 weeks without food, but can only survive 3 days without water.

This is why I have pledged to raise £5000. £3500 is to a build a water well which will provide local people with fresh, clean and uninfected water that they can use to drink, to maintain hygiene and most importantly use to grow crops as they has been no vegetation in over a year due to the lack of rain fall... and so the suffering continues.

If we could get 100 people to tell 10 people to make a small donation, we could raise this money in one day and together we could save nearly 13 million people from being at risk of dying from famine. Together we could save 750,000 people from dying of hunger in less than 6 months and ultimately we could give 20 million people the chance to live as it so rightly belongs to them. 

The Prophet Muhammed (peace be upon him) said, "None of you truly believes until he loves for his brother what he loves for himself" (narrated by both al Bukhari and Muslim) 

Also charity does not decrease wealth but can only increase one with humility.
