Story
On Sunday 9th June, I, alongside three LSE mates: Ben, Hosun and Joe, will be attempting to climb the Three Peaks, the tallest mountains in Scotland (Ben Nevis), England (Scafell Pike) and Wales (Snowdon). The aim is to complete the challenge within 24 hours.
The motivation behind this is to raise money for the Down’s Syndrome Association (DSA). A charity with a clear mission: “To create the conditions that all people with Down’s syndrome need to live full and rewarding lives.”
Whilst this charity is one in which I’m sure we all support, it is particularly close to team leader Joe, who’s brother John Henry has Down’s Syndrome. There is nothing more important than family and we are all fully motivated to smash this challenge for such a great charity.
In particular, we are endorsing the DSActive team of the organisation, which aims to provide opportunities for people with Down's syndrome to lead active lifestyles.
The climb itinerary:
Start Friday June 7th:
- 5-10pm - Climb and descend Ben Nevis
- 10pm-4am - Drive to Scafell Pike
- 4am-8am - Climb and descend Scafell Pike
- 8am-1pm - Drive to Snowdon
- 1pm-5pm - Climb and descend Snowdon hopefully on the 24th hour.
I appreciate most of you are poor students but any contribution is greatly received.
Please also take a look at the work the DSA is doing across the UK. It is a great charity with an important mission. https://downs-syndrome.org.uk/
Much love,
